Large Native Silver. Nipissing Hill, Cobalt, Ontario, Canada.
An old elongated solid silver nugget, massing 130 grams , and complete all around 360 degrees. It is very sculptural and shapely with some distinct crystallisation mainly to the side of the nugget.
While gold commonly forms nuggets, as does platinum and other metals, for some reason of chemistry this rarely happens with pure Silver. A nugget of this size is in fact extremely uncommon
Excellent provenance being from the old Cobalt silver deposits of Canada, and likely from around 1930.
Being recently released from a Collection held since 1982.
There is a small amount of natural resin on the underside, easily removable, where it has been previously mounted.
